Brazing Filler Metal BNi?2 PowderIndustrial Supply

Watch out:? Higher brazing temperature than BNi-2; no chromium →limited oxidation resistance at elevated service temperatures
How to Decide — Quick Decision Tree
Step 1:? Does the part need oxidation/corrosion resistance at hightemperature?
Yes → BNi-2
No → Go to Step 2
Step 2:? Is the joint clearance very tight (≤0.05 mm) or theoverlap very long?
Yes → BNi-3
No → Go to Step 3
Step 3:? Do you need more ductility or he wider gaps (0.05–0.15mm)?
Yes → BNi-4
Still unsure → BNi-2? (it covers most cases)
One-Line Summary
This makes it suitable for powder, paste, foil, and automatedbrazing lines.
Brazing Advantages of BNi-2 Powder
Advantage
Why it matters
Low brazing temperature?
Protects heat-treated / precipitation-hardened base metals
Narrow melt range?
Stable process, less li, easier furnace control
Superior wettability?
Fills thin gaps and complex geometries
High joint strength?
Withstands stress, pressure, and thermal cyclingRite Material
Its “special” points are not just the chemistry — they are thecombination? of low melting range, excellent flow, and serviceperformance close to stainless steel / superalloys.
1. Narrow melting range, lower brazing temperature
Solidus: 971 °C
Liquidus: 999 °C
Typical brazing temperature: 1010–1175 °C
Because the melting range is only about 30 °C, BNi-2 flowspredictably and fills capillary gaps without overheating the basemetal. It brazes below the solution-treatment temperature of manystainless steels and nickel alloys, so the parent metal does notsuffer grain growth, softening, or distortion.
3. Key Properties
Melting range:? Solidus 971 °C (1780 °F), Liquidus 999–1000 °C(1830–1832 °F)?
Brazing temperature:? typically 1010–1175 °C (1850–2150 °F); commonproduction range 1060–1120 °C?
Narrow melting range? → good process control, less base-metaloverheating
Excellent wettability and capillary flow? in vacuum, argon, or dryhydrogen atmospheres
High joint strength? at room and elevated temperatures
Good oxidation resistance? up to ~980 °C (1800 °F)Rite Material
