BNi-2 — The All-Rounder
Composition:? Ni-Cr-Si-B-Fe (Cr 6–8%, Si 4–5%, B 2.75–3.5%, Fe2.5–3.5%)
Melting & Brazing
Solidus 971 °C → Liquidus 999 °C (narrow 28 °C range)
Typical brazing: 1060–1120 °C
Why choose it
Contains chromium → best oxidation and corrosion resistance amongthe three
Excellent wettability and capillary flow on stainless steel, nickelsuperalloys, cobalt alloys
Narrow melt range → predictable process, less base-metal damage
This is why it is used in turbine components, engine structures, and heat exchangers.
4. Oxidation and corrosion resistance from chromium
The 6–8% Cr content gives the brazed joint:
good high-temperature oxidation resistance
resistance to many chemical / exhaust / process-gasenvironments
much better service life than silver-based or copper-based brazingalloysRite Material
9. Avoid repeated overheating cycles, which degrade themicrostructure and mechanical performance of brazed seams.
10. For aerospace critical components, post-brazing diffusion heattreatment is recommended to improve joint toughness.

*Tips from Rite Material*
BNi?2 powder requires vacuum or inert-atmosphere brazing. Keepjoint gap 0.03–0.10 mm. Fully clean workpiece surfaces. Controlbrazing temperature and holding time to prevent boron diffusion andsubstrate embrittlement. Store powder sealed and dry. Wear PPEduring powder handling.
BNi-2? = chromium-bearing, oxidation resistant, the industrydefault.
BNi-3? = chromium-free, flows into the tightest gaps, tolerant ofimperfect atmospheres.
BNi-4? = lower boron, wider gap tolerance, better ductility, higherbrazing temperature.
1. BNi?2 powder must be brazed under vacuum or high-purity inertatmosphere. Air brazing will cause severe oxidation and failedjoints.
2. Strictly control the joint clearance within 0.03–0.10 mm. Toolarge gaps easily generate brittle boride phases and reduce jointstrength.Rite Material
